Global retail units of the vivo V80 are now reaching test benches following the phone's October 6 debut in India and subsequent international rollout. Early inspection shows that while vivo kept much of the core hardware from the previous V70, the new model targets battery capacity and display refresh rate.

In-Box Accessories and Exterior Build

The global retail package retains a full set of accessories, including the phone, a clear soft case, a 90W wall charger, and a USB-A to USB-C cable. The test unit arrived in a green-blue finish, though vivo has not confirmed the official marketing name for this colorway. Built around a matte metal frame and semi-transparent rear glass, the chassis uses a broad camera island that reviewers noted visually falls between the V70 and recent iPhone Pro designs.

Familiar Snapdragon Silicon and Zeiss Optics

Under the hood, the V80 carries over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor from the V70 alongside identical camera hardware. The rear Zeiss-branded setup features a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50MP periscope telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Selfies are handled by a 50MP front camera. The configuration contradicts pre-launch rumors suggesting an upgrade to a 200MP primary sensor.

Bigger Silicon-Carbon Cell and 144Hz Screen

The notable hardware changes center on power and screen speed. Vivo upgraded the battery to a 7,200mAh silicon-carbon pack, up from 6,500mAh in the V70. The 6.59-inch 1260x2750 AMOLED panel now runs at 144Hz, compared to 120Hz on the prior phone, while reaching up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. Standardized lab testing remains underway to measure exact charging times with the 90W adapter and evaluate overall battery endurance.
