Saros Receives Free Zenith Update With Boss Rush and New Game Plus
Housemarque released the Zenith update for Saros on PlayStation 5, introducing the Overlord Rush boss gauntlet, Eclipse Layers New Game Plus, and new accessibility options.

Housemarque released the free Zenith content update for its PlayStation 5 shooter Saros on October 19, 2026. The patch arrived without a previously announced launch date following a brief teaser during Sony's September State of Play presentation.
The centerpiece of the update is Overlord Rush, a boss rush simulation accessed through the Primary Unit in the Passage hub. The mode features dedicated global leaderboards separated by equipped primary weapon. Players can select between three formats: the Incursion and Ascension sets, which each take about 10 minutes to run through three Overlords, and the Totality set, which strings all eight campaign bosses into a single continuous fight.
For players returning to the campaign, Zenith adds a New Game Plus mode called Eclipse Layers. Available through the Armor Matrix after beating the main story, the mode dresses protagonist Arjun in armor and a golden crown that glow brighter as trial levels increase. Progressing through these trial tiers reveals 12 hidden story Visions.
The patch also introduces 20 Carcosan Modifiers, divided equally between 10 Protection Modifiers that reduce incoming difficulty and 10 Trial Modifiers that raise the challenge. Their addition brings the total modifier pool across the game to 50.
Expanded Controls and Combat Assists
Creative Director Gregory Louden stated that launch feedback directly shaped the new control settings. Zenith adds high-contrast visual options, an auto-fire setting, and motion sensor gyro aiming support for the DualSense controller.
Players can also adjust overall game and projectile speed. According to the PlayStation Blog, the slow-speed assist can be configured to trigger automatically during combat or activated manually through a control toggle when encounters escalate.
Player Feedback on Eclipse Layers and Post-Launch Plans
While the new modes expanded high-level play, Eclipse Layers drew criticism from players on Reddit. Community feedback focused on the mode resetting campaign movement gear and omitting roguelike currency systems comparable to Housemarque's previous game, Returnal.
Housemarque has not indicated whether further expansions or content patches are planned for Saros. For now, the studio's public focus remains on leaderboard tracking in Overlord Rush and community captures using the updated Photo mode.
